Responsibilities- Provide patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or advanced practice provider in an ambulatory setting.
- Act as a leader to help drive quality care and a mentor for professional practice.
- Support and demonstrate effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
- Work collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
- Gather patient data through interview and observation.
- Assist patients and families with preparation for examination.
- Assist the physician during examination and procedures.
- Provide routine treatments and administer approved medication types as ordered by the provider.
- Enter medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider.
- Document patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.
- Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification and maintains current certification by one of the following agencies: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
- Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.
