Job Summary

As a Senior Certified Medical Assistant at Orlando Health, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, customer-focused healthcare services in an outpatient clinic setting. You will work closely with the Physician Lead and Director of Physician Practices to manage human, financial, and materials resources, ensuring patient and staff satisfaction in support of the mission and goals of the Orlando Health Physician Group (OHPG) and Orlando Health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform patient care under the direction and supervision of the physician or advanced practice provider (APP) in an ambulatory setting.
  • Act as a leader to help drive quality care and a mentor for professional practice.
  • Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
  • Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
  • Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
  • Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
  • Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider.
  • Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department-specific policies.
  • Assists the physician by acting as a liaison on behalf of the patient to schedule, provide patient with scheduling information to obtain specialty testing, and/or specialty physician consultation.
  • Processes incoming and outgoing calls in an independent and professional manner using sound clinical judgment.
  • Helps develop and coordinate the orientation process in the assigned practice for Medical Assistants.
  • Acts as preceptor and/or oversees assigned preceptor(s) in collaboration with nursing/clinical leadership and corporate Learning Consultant.
  • Supports and helps develop quality strategies within the practice.
  • Helps to facilitate and participate in the skills portion of the Annual Clinical Review for Medical Assistants.
  • Collaborates with the clinical leadership and education to assess ongoing competence of Medical Assistants.
  • Leads and participates in departmental committees and special projects.

Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.
  • Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Healthcareer Association (NHA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or equivalent certification required.
  • Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.
