Job Overview:
As a Practical Nursing Supervisor, you will oversee the daily activities of the nursing staff within your assigned unit, ensuring that high-quality nursing care is delivered to all patients in compliance with the Nurse Practice Act and the standards set by HealthPartners.

Key Responsibilities:
1.

Lead the daily operations of the nursing team, providing training and orientation to new staff members regarding departmental protocols.

2.

Act as a communication bridge between the department supervisor and nursing staff, ensuring the flow of essential information.

3.

Contribute to the evaluation of employee performance within the unit.

4.

Administer essential medical procedures, including catheterization and immunizations, while accurately documenting patient interactions in the integrated medical record.

5.

Assess and triage patient concerns, providing solutions or referrals based on established clinic protocols.

6.

Prepare patients for various medical tests, examinations, or treatments.

7.

Assist physicians during diagnostic and surgical procedures, and conduct routine tests as required.

8.

Recognize and respond to emergency situations with appropriate actions under direct supervision.

9.

Collect and record patient health information using the integrated medical record system.

10.

Educate patients on standard home care practices and self-management techniques.

11.

Provide basic counseling to patients regarding disease management and health conditions.

12.

Act as an advocate for patients by ensuring confidentiality and upholding their rights.

13.

Perform additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
This position requires a current BLS certification for health professionals, which must be maintained through recognized organizations. Online certifications are not acceptable.

Education and Experience:
- Graduate from an accredited practical nursing program.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience, preferably in a related medical field.

Licensure and Certification:
- Must hold a valid state practical nursing license.

Skills and Competencies:
- Strong clinical and interpersonal skills, along with effective leadership capabilities.
- Basic computer and typing skills are necessary.
- Knowledge of age-related growth and development principles to ensure patient safety and appropriate care.

Operational Proficiency:
- Ability to safely operate various health testing equipment, including vision and hearing tests, as well as standard office equipment such as computers and telephones.
