Position Overview:
The Senior Environmental Health and Safety Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring adherence to environmental, health, and safety regulations while managing training and program initiatives. This position provides essential regulatory knowledge to guarantee that all applicable requirements are understood and met within the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
* Facilitate awareness among management and operational staff regarding current and upcoming regulatory obligations, permit stipulations, and restrictions set forth by federal, state, and local authorities.
* Develop processes aimed at identifying, assessing, and mitigating workplace hazards.
* Organize and monitor training programs to ensure compliance with OSHA standards.
* Implement and uphold necessary OSHA compliance initiatives.
* Offer industrial hygiene support to assess employee exposure to noise and other health risks.
* Lead the creation and execution of innovative environmental programs.
* Assist in the formulation and deployment of new health and safety initiatives.
* Oversee mandatory compliance monitoring activities related to air, water, and waste management, including DOT regulations.
* Maintain accurate chemical inventory records to meet regulatory tracking requirements.
* Provide training to staff regarding environmental, health, and safety policies and procedures.
* Support environmental incident investigations, conduct root cause analyses, and develop corrective action plans as necessary.
* Engage with regulatory agencies as required.
* Provide leadership and support for the implementation and sustainability of the Behavioral Based Safety (BBS) process.
* Act as the Emergency Response Coordinator for the facility, coordinating emergency services and contractors, which includes being on call 24/7.
* Champion the implementation of EHS Management systems (VPP, ISO, OHSAS).
* Ensure alignment of safety policies and procedures across the organization.
Qualifications:
* Professional certification is preferred.
* A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field pertinent to health, safety, and environmental disciplines is required.
* A minimum of 5 years of experience in safety within a manufacturing context is essential.
* Familiarity with various safety regulations or standards (OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, NEC, etc.) and experience in implementing EHS systems and training programs.
* Proven track record in developing both proactive and preventative safety programs to minimize incidents and accidents.
- Experience in conducting environmental and safety incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action development.
- Experience in providing leadership and support for the implementation and sustainability of the BBS process.
- Experience serving as Emergency Response Coordinator, assisting with emergency services and contractor coordination.
