Key Responsibilities

Core Duties:

As a member of the Material Review Board (MRB), Aerospace Material Assessment Engineers play a crucial role in overseeing engineering processes within an aerospace production or preproduction setting.

Utilizing independent authority, they address non-conformances related to aircraft structural components, systems, functional tests, and electrical installations, all while adhering to rapid production timelines.

The decision-making process relies on a deep understanding of the design and manufacturing of various components, including machined parts, sheet metal, weldments, non-metals, advanced composites, and large-scale assemblies.

MRB engineers are expected to be self-driven, capable of decisive action, effective communication, and demonstrate innovation and resourcefulness in both delegated and non-delegated environments.

They apply systems-thinking skills to enhance hardware producibility and resolve production challenges.

Experience with Material Review Boards in aerospace production settings.

Aerospace or mechanical engineering degree is preferred.

Familiarity with composite materials in design is advantageous.

Proficiency in CATIA V5 software is a plus.

Ability to manage projects and effectively lead or participate in cross-functional teams to achieve engineering objectives.

Experience in interpreting aircraft maintenance documents, engineering repair designs, and repair substantiation, particularly in roles within airlines, FAA Part 145 Repair stations, or as an aircraft OEM Liaison.

Expertise in applying systems thinking to enhance component maintainability and resolve performance issues.

Knowledge of production and design processes, including standard repair methods in the aircraft industry.

Capability to develop innovative revisions to the design and manufacturing processes of machined parts, sheet metal components, welded assemblies, non-metals, advanced composites, and new material integrations.

Skills in initiating design and process modifications.

Strong communication skills, decisive action, and a demonstrated ability to innovate and be resourceful.
