Position Overview:
The Sales Executive will spearhead all sales initiatives within their designated territory, encompassing prospect identification, lead generation, sales engagements, and managing the sales cycle through to contract negotiation and closure. This role demands collaboration to achieve sales targets while upholding the highest standards of integrity, quality, and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the customer relationship management for the entire OpenGov team, driving the overall account strategy and coordinating with the pre-sales team to expand both new and existing customer accounts.
- Build and maintain relationships with senior leaders in government agencies among customers and prospects.
- Generate new business leads through networking, prospecting, and leveraging marketing initiatives.
- Deliver sales presentations to various levels within leading government organizations in the assigned territory.
- Focus on departments utilizing Infrastructure and Asset Management solutions, Work Planning, Maintenance, and Capital Infrastructure.
- Address product use cases, benefits, competitive advantages, and business outcomes; facilitate executive and technical follow-ups to finalize sales.
- Engage in targeted account selling, including prospecting, lead qualification, closing strategies, and negotiations.
- Develop professional relationships with existing customers and prospects across all organizational levels, establishing referenceable clients to enhance the OpenGov brand.
- Collaborate with OpenGov's marketing team to create and implement demand generation campaigns.
- Lead contract negotiations effectively.
- Work with Marketing on leads generated from events and campaigns, contributing to event strategy for OpenGov's presence.
- Manage the sales process and participate in sales planning meetings (utilizing methodologies such as MEDDIC, QBRs, etc.).
- Maintain comprehensive knowledge of OpenGov's product offerings and the competitive landscape.
- Achieve or surpass quota expectations consistently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in quota-carrying sales, with a background in selling software solutions preferred (experience in the State and Local Government sector is advantageous but not mandatory).
- Strong work ethic and a proactive sales approach.
- Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment.
- Curiosity and a willingness to learn in the face of new challenges.
- Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales quotas.
- Demonstrated ability to close complex, consultative sales deals.
- Willingness to travel as necessary (25% to 50%).
- Passion for technology sales and its societal benefits.
- Ability to engage with senior executives regarding organizational direction, transformational projects, and necessary budgets.
- Self-motivated, creative, results-oriented, and persuasive when advocating for customer needs.
- Competitive spirit, driven to succeed, and motivated by financial incentives.

- Strong written communication skills and fluency in expression.
- Experience with CRM systems, preferably SalesForce.
