Position Overview:

Compensation:
The hiring range for this position is $26.76. The salary range reflects the complete compensation spectrum for this classification, with the hiring range serving as an estimate for the selected candidate's compensation.

The final salary offer will take into account various factors, including skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, and training.


Key Responsibilities:
As a City Security Specialist, you will:
1. Ensure the safety and security of the City Hall complex and other municipal facilities.
2. Enforce city regulations and provide assistance to the public as needed.
3. Conduct regular patrols of City Hall and associated facilities, including the Library, City Court, and Police building, both on foot and via patrol vehicle.
4. Monitor surveillance systems for all city properties.
5. Observe assigned areas and promptly report any emergencies or suspicious activities to the Police Department.
6. Assist with customer service by directing citizens to appropriate city resources.
7. Address and resolve customer service-related inquiries and complaints.
8. Maintain communication with Police resources through portable radio.
9. Identify and report safety hazards and security issues within city buildings.
10. Investigate security-related complaints and respond to emergency situations.
11. Provide security during City Council meetings.

Qualifications:
To be considered for this position, candidates must possess:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience in a similar role, such as security officer, police officer, or detention officer.
- Knowledge of security policies, procedures, and electronic security systems.
- Proficiency in communication through portable radio and in managing emergency situations.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Completion of the DPS Terminal Operator Certificate (TOC) within six months of hire.
- Court Security Officer Certification through the Arizona Court Security Guard Academy within one year of hire.
- Ability to wear a ballistic vest and utility belt as part of the uniform.
- Capability to pass a certified Defensive Tactics Training Course.
- Skills to manage interactions with challenging individuals and identify unsafe conditions.
- A valid Arizona driver's license or the ability to obtain one upon hire.

Additional Information:
This position requires a thorough background investigation, which may include a polygraph and psychological evaluation. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to read, interpret, and apply relevant laws, ordinances, and regulations. The role involves performing general math calculations and preparing clear records and reports as necessary.
