Position Overview:

The Arizona Official Website of State of Arizona is seeking a dedicated professional to serve as the Child Welfare Investigations Supervisor. This role involves overseeing and executing intricate and sensitive inquiries related to allegations of unlawful behavior, child maltreatment, and neglect. The Supervisor will also provide guidance and training to Investigative Specialists in effective case management techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, respond to, and conduct investigations in collaboration with various stakeholders concerning allegations of unlawful behavior, child maltreatment, or neglect that have led to severe harm or fatality of minors. Participate in investigations alongside Department of Child Safety (DCS) Specialists and Investigative Specialists, particularly in challenging and potentially confrontational situations.
  • Offer on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and support to newly appointed Investigative Specialists. Stay informed about relevant materials and software in a dynamic environment, including new legislation, policies, and technological advancements, to effectively address trainee inquiries and unique case scenarios.
  • Facilitate training sessions for new Investigative Specialists on the methodologies and strategies essential for conducting sensitive inquiries into allegations of child maltreatment, including observation techniques, interviewing, identifying signs of abuse, forensic analysis, and evidence collection.
  • Assume managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Child Welfare Investigations Manager.
  • Participate in unit meetings, high-profile case discussions, multidisciplinary collaborations, and review meetings as dictated by case requirements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned relevant to the position.

  • Arizona laws pertaining to special victims, forensics, domestic violence, and related law enforcement areas.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Applicants must have a minimum of six months of experience as an OCWI Investigator. Employment is contingent upon passing a comprehensive background investigation by State and Federal agencies. Candidates must secure and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and clearance from the DCS Central Registry.
