Field Service Engineer, 2-Stroke

Key Responsibilities:

This role is open to candidates within the USA, providing comprehensive support to both external and internal clients across various time zones. Remote work options are available for qualified individuals.

This position reports to the Coordinator of Field Service Resources.

Wärtsilä, a leader in SMART technology, is in search of the ideal candidate to become part of our dynamic and high-performing Field Service Operations coordination team (AMER). Candidates should demonstrate exceptional critical thinking and reasoning abilities, identify as high achievers, and possess self-motivation.

Accountabilities:

In this role, you will conduct service activities, including overhauls and repairs, on 2-stroke marine diesel engines.

To ensure a successful match, we anticipate that you have technical expertise in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul, along with a commitment to safety.

Primary Duties:
  • Execute overhauls and repairs on 4-stroke engines.
  • Conduct advanced mechanical and system integration troubleshooting on 2-stroke engines and associated equipment.
  • Engage professionally with clients throughout the service process.
  • Commission service products.
  • Lead and manage onsite teams and related activities during service execution.
  • Provide internal and external updates on the progress of assigned tasks.
  • Assist in the creation of Service Work Reports.
  • Ensure compliance with Wärtsilä's QEHS guidelines and site protocols.
  • Monitor and report on work order statuses to clients and/or internal stakeholders.
  • Continuously pursue solutions aligned with best practices.
Qualifications:
  • A strong commitment to safety.
  • A desire to advance your knowledge of 4-stroke engines.
  • Relevant technical education or qualifications, combining education and experience.
  • Hands-on experience in reciprocating engine repair and overhaul, with practical problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in the installation, operation, and maintenance of turbochargers, pumps, heat exchangers, fuel systems, lubrication systems, and cooling systems.
  • Professional interaction and solution delivery to clients during service execution.
  • Experience with slow-speed 2-stroke engines.
  • Familiarity with electrical systems is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

This position necessitates a travel commitment exceeding 70%, covering both domestic and international locations, including onshore and offshore sites.
