Position Overview:

As a Maintenance Engineering Specialist, you will play a crucial role in enhancing manufacturing processes and methodologies to align with product specifications and quality benchmarks. Your technical expertise will be vital in achieving operational objectives related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Cost (SQDIC).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the upkeep of process and facility equipment, ensuring the effective implementation and daily management of maintenance systems, processes, and documentation that contribute to a High Performing Manufacturing Organization (including Prevention and Predictive Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance, Standard Operating Procedures, and Safety protocols).
  • Coordinate maintenance schedules promptly, collaborating closely with production teams to ensure timely equipment and facility repairs.
  • Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor and report on the maintenance function's performance, including supplier and contractor performance, equipment reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Provide ongoing support and long-term solutions to operational teams facing troubleshooting, problem analysis, and equipment failure challenges.
  • Assess and enhance processes within manufacturing systems.
  • Adhere to and advocate for established best practices aimed at process excellence.
  • Contribute to a centralized knowledge base by sharing best practices and updating processes and procedures following significant improvements.
  • Ensure the reliability and safety of manufacturing systems while optimizing production rates, efficiencies, yields, costs, and changeovers.
  • Lead initiatives for continuous improvement and associated metrics.
  • Design and implement systems that enhance all stages of the production process.
  • Educate employees on proper work methods and safety protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and regulations in all tasks.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities and inventory.
  • Provide regular updates and status reports to various stakeholders.
  • Adjust preventive maintenance frequencies based on documented failure histories.
  • Incorporate OEM best practices and feedback from mechanics and inspections.
  • Supervise the creation of unscheduled work orders, maintaining a history of repairs, parts utilized, and cost tracking.
  • Manage parts inventory and conduct analysis.
  • Identify capital requirements focused on operational enhancements within the facility.
  • Prepare comprehensive capital requests, detailing project scopes and timelines from equipment acquisition to project completion.
  • Engage in the project bidding process and provide informed recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
  • A minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience is required, with industrial experience being highly desirable.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and related computer applications.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational skills, and effective time management.
  • Strong mathematical and measurement capabilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to collaborate with various departments, including Quality, Safety, Production, and Maintenance.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools is preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Personal protective equipment is mandatory.
  • Active participation in company safety programs and initiatives is expected.
  • Some travel may be required.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment may be comparable to outdoor temperatures.
  • Regularly required to stand, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • Frequent movement throughout the facility is necessary.
  • Occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
