Job Overview

Position: Construction Project Coordinator

Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evenings and weekends, is crucial to minimize disruption to the daily operations of building occupants.

Role Summary

The Construction Project Coordinator is accountable for the overall success, safety, and timely execution of a construction initiative that involves the sourcing and installation of specialized doors across various locations. This role entails planning and managing project construction, commissioning, and close-out activities, while also providing technical guidance to project teams, government entities, and stakeholders. A key expectation is to maintain open and effective communication among the client and diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement project-specific work plans and offer advice as necessary to adapt to evolving needs and requirements.
  • Foster collegial relationships with client personnel that build trust and confidence in the team. Collaborate closely with the client and other stakeholders (often with competing priorities) to ensure project completion with minimal disruption.
  • Identify required resources and coordinate with the Program Manager at Corporate HQ in advance to keep the construction schedule on track.
  • Oversee daily operational aspects of the project, ensuring that installation contractors perform work in alignment with contracts and schedules.
  • Effectively apply company processes and procedures while enforcing project contracts and standards.
  • Manage and mitigate the company's exposure and risk on the project.
  • Communicate project information promptly and effectively to the Chief Executive Officer.
  • Resolve and/or escalate cost and schedule challenges in a timely manner.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree in business management, engineering, finance, or a related field from an accredited institution; or ten (10) years of successful experience in construction project management or training in engineering, finance, or manufacturing management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in contract management and construction risk management is essential.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain building access through routine background checks.
  • Experience as a Project Manager on projects valued at $50M or more.
  • Prior experience working as the General Contractor on large construction projects with high-end finishes; experience with historic buildings is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of design/build contract execution and a working knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).
  • Experience in secured and high-end building design and construction, firm fixed price contracts.
  • Understanding of construction planning, scheduling, and management techniques.
  • FE/BR experience, TSS (Technical Security Services), and Special Construction Experience are highly preferred.
  • Willingness and ability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings and weekends, to minimize the impact on daily operations.
  • Ability to successfully create and manage a multicultural project team and foster a positive work environment, while effectively integrating with the local stakeholder community.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret various forms of documentation; ability to effectively present information and respond to inquiries from executive leadership, production associates, clients, customers, vendors, and the public.
  • Strong logistical knowledge and mechanical aptitude are required, along with budgetary financial knowledge.
  • Ability to make sound business decisions and possess strong problem-solving skills; analytical skills to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; ability to interpret technical publications and read technical drawings.
  • While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk, occasionally stoop, kneel, and/or climb; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
