Job Overview:

MISSION: To generate radiographs that meet both customer and PCC standards for the assessment of castings.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Setup:
Objective: To proficiently prepare castings for radiographic examination.
Essential Functions:

Evaluate routing or requests to ascertain x-ray requirements for components.Examine Technique Cards to identify setup criteria, including x-ray methodologies, component placements, and Film/IP specifications.Establish additional radiographs for defect areas not addressed by Technique Cards.Inspect and maintain Film/IP and cassettes, adhering to proper handling protocols.Arrange castings on tables within x-ray machines, ensuring correct fixturing, Film/IP placement, and DICOM tag identification; configure exposure parameters.Prioritize radiographs based on urgency.Develop optimal setup practices for newly introduced techniques as necessary.Conduct visual inspections of castings for contaminants.

2. X-Ray Operation:
Objective: To competently operate x-ray machinery and produce radiographs in accordance with customer specifications.
Essential Functions:

Manage x-ray machine controls to capture multiple views of castings, adjusting variables such as tube height, voltage, and exposure times as required.Oversee, maintain, and generate exposures for System Qualifications on x-ray equipment per customer and PCC standards.Simultaneously conduct multiple radiographic examinations, demonstrating proficiency across all machines.Extract Film/IP from castings for processing, ensuring adherence to proper handling techniques.Post-processing, evaluate radiographs for clarity, coverage, and sensitivity; document modifications and reshoot exposures as necessary.Exhibit readiness for unscheduled audits by internal and external auditors.

3. Training:
Assist and mentor less experienced Radiographers in setup and operational techniques as required.

4. Documentation:
Maintain logs and records, noting any adjustments to Technique Card specifications.

5. Quality Assurance:
Ensure compliance with all production and quality benchmarks.

6. Safety:
Objective: To uphold and exemplify safe work practices, adhering to PCC radiation safety protocols.
Essential Functions:

Comply with all plant and departmental safety regulations.Safely operate all tools and equipment.Identify and report safety concerns.

7. Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other tasks as assigned within the x-ray department.

Experience & Education:

On-the-job training provided.Completion of Radiography Level 1 Courses required (including radiation safety and digital method training).Radiographer Level 1 Certification mandatory for all modalities (Film, CR, DDA).Re-certification required every five years.

Required Skills:

Demonstrated radiography skills through competent performance of all responsibilities or equivalent combination of education and experience.High school diploma or GED necessary for NDT Certification.Basic mathematical skills required (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).Ability to interpret Technique Cards, Quality Control Manuals, and other technical documents.Effective verbal and written communication skills.Physical capability to fulfill essential job functions.
