Job Responsibilities

Objective: To generate radiographs that meet customer and company specifications for the assessment of castings.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Setup

    Ensure accurate setup of castings for radiographic examination.

    • Review routing requests to identify x-ray requirements.
    • Examine Technique Cards to establish setup criteria, including x-ray techniques and Film/IP specifications.
    • Prepare additional radiographs for defect areas not specified in Technique Cards.
    • Inspect and maintain Film/IP and cassettes, adhering to proper handling protocols.
    • Arrange castings on x-ray machine tables, including necessary fixturing and exposure settings.
    • Prioritize radiographs based on urgency.
    • Develop optimal setup practices for new techniques as necessary.
    • Conduct visual inspections of castings for contaminants.
  2. X-Ray Operation

    Effectively operate x-ray machines to produce radiographs that conform to specifications.

    • Control x-ray machine settings to capture multiple views of castings, adjusting variables as needed.
    • Monitor and maintain x-ray equipment to ensure compliance with specifications.
    • Simultaneously conduct multiple radiographic examinations as required.
    • Handle Film/IP post-examination with care to ensure quality.
    • Review processed images for clarity and accuracy, making adjustments as necessary.
    • Be prepared for unannounced audits by internal and external auditors.
  3. Training and Mentorship

    Provide guidance and support to less experienced Radiographers in setup and operational techniques.

  4. Documentation

    Maintain accurate logs and records, noting any modifications to Technique Card specifications.

  5. Quality and Safety

    Demonstrate commitment to safety and quality standards.

    • Follow all safety protocols and operational guidelines.
    • Identify and report any safety concerns.
Qualifications

Applicants should possess:

  • Demonstrated radiography skills or equivalent training and experience.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • The ability to interpret technical documentation.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • The physical capability to perform essential job functions.
