The X-Ray Technician / Radiographic Specialist plays a crucial role in the evaluation of castings through the production of radiographs that meet both customer and corporate specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Setup:
Accurately prepare castings for radiographic examination. This includes:- Reviewing requests to ascertain x-ray requirements.
- Consulting Technique Cards to establish setup parameters, including x-ray techniques and Film/IP specifications.
- Setting up additional radiographs for areas with defects not addressed by Technique Cards.
- Maintaining and inspecting Film/IP and cassettes, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
- Arranging castings on x-ray machine tables, including fixturing and setting exposure parameters.
- X-Ray Operation:
Effectively operate x-ray machinery to produce radiographs that conform to customer specifications. Responsibilities include:- Managing x-ray machine controls to capture multiple views of castings, adjusting variables such as tube height and exposure times.
- Monitoring and maintaining equipment to ensure compliance with quality standards.
- Conducting concurrent radiographic examinations across multiple machines.
- Processing Film/IP and evaluating radiographs for clarity and compliance with specifications.
- Being open to audits by internal and external quality assurance teams.
- Training and Mentorship:
Assist in the development of less experienced Radiographers by providing guidance on setup and operational techniques. - Safety Compliance:
Demonstrate a commitment to safety by adhering to plant and departmental safety protocols, operating equipment safely, and reporting any safety concerns.
Essential Equipment:
Familiarity with various tools and machinery, including x-ray machines, hoists, and digital image processing stations, is required.
Qualifications:
Successful candidates will possess:
- Radiography skills demonstrated through competent performance in all job functions.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- The physical capability to fulfill job responsibilities.
