Job Responsibilities:MISSION:
To generate radiographs that meet customer and company specifications for the assessment of castings.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Setup:
Objective: Ensure accurate setup of castings for radiographic evaluation.- Assess routing or requests to identify x-ray requirements for parts.
- Examine Technique Cards to establish setup criteria, including x-ray methods, positioning of parts, and Film/IP specifications.
- Prepare additional radiographs for defect areas not specified in Technique Cards.
- Inspect and maintain Film/IP and cassettes, adhering to proper handling protocols.
- Arrange castings on x-ray machine tables, including fixturing and placement of Film/IP, while setting exposure parameters.
- Prioritize radiographs based on urgency.
- Develop optimal setup practices for newly introduced techniques as necessary.
- Conduct visual inspections of castings for contaminants.
- X-Ray Operation:
Objective: Efficiently operate x-ray machines to produce radiographs that comply with specifications.- Control x-ray machine panels to capture multiple views of castings, adjusting variables such as tube height and exposure times.
- Oversee and generate exposures for System Qualifications on x-ray equipment per specifications.
- Simultaneously conduct multiple radiographic examinations and operate all machines proficiently.
- Remove Film/IP from castings for processing, ensuring proper handling techniques are followed.
- Post-processing, evaluate radiographs for clarity and compliance, documenting any adjustments made.
- Be prepared for unannounced audits by internal and external auditors.
- Training and Mentorship:
Assist and guide less experienced Radiographers in setup and operational techniques as required. - Documentation:
Maintain logs and records, noting any modifications to Technique Card specifications. - Quality Assurance:
Meet all production and quality benchmarks. - Safety:
Objective: Uphold safe work practices and comply with radiation safety protocols.- Follow plant and departmental safety regulations.
- Safely operate all equipment and tools.
- Identify and report safety concerns.

- On-the-job training provided.
- Completion of Radiography Level 1 Courses is mandatory.
- Radiographer Level 1 Certification required for all modalities.
- Re-certification is necessary every five years.
- Demonstrated radiography skills through competent performance of duties or equivalent training and experience.
- High school diploma or GED required for NDT Certification.
- Basic mathematical skills are essential.
- Ability to interpret Technique Cards and technical specifications.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Physical capability to perform essential job functions.
This position involves access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws. To qualify for this role, applicants must meet the definition of a U.S. Person and provide necessary documentation prior to employment.
