We are currently seeking a Remote Inpatient Coding Specialist.
Position Type: Full-Time REMOTE
Key Responsibilities:
- As a Coding Integrity Specialist III working from home, you will assess and analyze hospital inpatient medical records to accurately assign, sequence, edit, and validate the necessary ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes.
- A CIS III will conduct coding and/or code/DRG validation across multiple healthcare entities, adhering to all relevant coding guidelines and criteria.
- Address coding quality edits and manage customer inquiries related to potential coding discrepancies.
- We are looking for candidates with a minimum of three years of inpatient (hospital) DRG coding experience in acute care settings, including various account types.
- Candidates will be required to complete a coding assessment, which includes multiple-choice questions and open-ended behavioral inquiries.
- Experience in coding for acute care, including SDC, OBS, ED, and OP, with a focus on Cardiology, Interventional Radiology, and Wound Care is essential.
Qualifications:
To be considered for the Inpatient Coding Specialist role, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Ability to assign, sequence, validate, and edit codes/DRGs and abstracted data for inpatient records across multiple facilities using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS.
- Maintain or exceed established accuracy and productivity standards.
- Utilize comprehensive patient medical record documentation for code/DRG assignment and validation.
- Preferred educational background includes an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management/Health Information Technology.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of acute care hospital inpatient coding experience is required.
- Experience in coding technical skills, including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, MS-DRGs, APR DRGs, and POA Assignment.
- Auditing responsibilities may also be required.
- Certification such as RHIT, RHIA, or CCS is mandatory.
Compensation: Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.
