Job Summary

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Driver Licensing and ID Specialist Senior to join our team in Richmond, Virginia. As a key member of our Driver Licensing Division, you will play a critical role in reviewing and verifying documents to determine eligibility for driver's licenses and identification cards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and verify documents to determine eligibility for driver's licenses and identification cards
  • Recommend approval or denial of customer requests for exceptions to identity document requirements
  • Provide expert guidance and training to internal and external customers on current and upcoming licensing provisions
  • Advise customers of requirements in writing or by telephone and update automated records in a timely manner

Requirements

  • Experience interpreting, explaining, and applying complex material such as the Virginia Motor Vehicle Code, Code of Federal Regulations, and United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policies and procedures
  • Experience performing research regarding documents of other agencies and the procedures by which they are issued
  • Experience communicating courteously and effectively with others, both orally and through written correspondence, in a manner that reflects an in-depth understanding of the subject matter
  • High school diploma or GED or any combination of training and experience indicating possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies that may be considered as a substitute for this education

Additional Considerations

  • Use of agency systems essential to performing assigned duties such as CSS, On Base, and CBN Request Manager
  • Experience working with a diverse customer base

Working Conditions

This is a technical position in a high-volume DMV regulatory unit. The selected candidate will be required to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in a timely manner.
