Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Plumber I to join our team at the Hawaii State Department of Education. As a Plumber I, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, water, and drainage systems in offices, houses, and other structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair heating, water, and drainage systems
  • Install, maintain, and make minor repairs to cesspools, water heaters, pumps, and other units
  • Install and repair plumbing fixtures such as showers, wash basins, urinals, toilet bowls, and toilet tanks
  • Lead caulking, wipe, and test lead joints
  • Cut, ream, and thread pipe; install and repair sprinkler systems
  • Replace washers in leaky faucets, mend/replace broken pipes, and open clogged drains
  • Read blueprints and compute material lists
  • Estimate time and materials needed to perform a job
  • Determine what modifications in plans will be necessary when obstructions are met while installing plumbing
  • May assign tasks to other plumbers and supervise the work of helpers
  • May perform duties in other trades when not utilized as a plumber
Requirements
  • Valid State of Hawaii Journey Worker Plumber License or Master Plumber License
  • Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds unassisted and lift/carry objects weighing up to 100 pounds assisted by another person and/or use of equipment
