Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Construction and Maintenance Worker I to join our team in Hilo, Hawaii Island. As a key member of our team, you will perform skilled tasks in various building trades, including masonry, welding, carpentry, and plumbing, related to heavy construction and maintenance of buildings and other structures.

Responsibilities
  • Perform skilled tasks in several building trades, including masonry, welding, carpentry, and plumbing.
  • Conduct heavy construction and maintenance of buildings and other structures.
  • Operate power tools and equipment common to the building trades.
  • Read sketches and estimate time and materials to complete jobs.
  • Maintain records and provide oral and written instructions.
  • Recognize hazards typical of the work and perform heavy lifting, moving, and other manual work.
Requirements
  • Four (4) years of experience in performing skilled work involving the construction and maintenance of buildings, structures, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of practices and methods used in the several building trades, including safety procedures.
  • Ability to use power tools common to the building trades, read sketches, estimate time and materials, maintain records, and provide oral and written instructions.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 to 100 pounds unassisted and over 100 pounds with the assistance of another person and/or use of equipment.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent exposure to construction sites, heavy equipment, and hazardous materials. The ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather conditions is required.
