Duke Primary Care is a leading healthcare provider in central North Carolina, offering family, adolescent, and internal medicine services, as well as urgent, general pediatric, and virtual care at nearly 50 clinic locations.

Job Summary

We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Primary Care in Sweetwater. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will provide direct patient care and support administrative duties in a fast-paced clinic setting.

Responsibilities
  • Taking medical histories and recording vital signs
  • Explaining treatment procedures to patients and preparing them for examinations and procedures
  • Assisting medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures
  • Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens and performing basic laboratory tests
  • Removing sutures/staples, changing sterile and non-sterile dressings, and promoting patient/family understanding of educational content
  • Documenting in the patient record and performing other clinical support responsibilities as delegated and supervised by the physician
Administrative Responsibilities
  • Greeting patients, answering telephones, and scheduling appointments
  • Checking out patients, arranging for hospital admissions and laboratory services, and updating and filing patient medical records
  • Filling out insurance forms, handling billing and bookkeeping, and ordering clinical and clerical supplies and forms
Requirements
  • Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required
  • BLS certification required
  • Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by CAAHEP or ABHES preferred
  • High school or GED graduation required
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting required for Level II and III
