Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Duke Primary Care. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing direct patient care and supporting our medical staff in delivering high-quality patient care.
Responsibilities- Take medical histories and record vital signs, explaining treatment procedures to patients and preparing them for examinations and procedures.
- Assist medical and nursing staff during examinations and procedures, collect and prepare laboratory specimens, and perform basic laboratory tests in the clinic/office.
- Take electrocardiograms, remove sutures/staples, change sterile and non-sterile dressings, and promote patient/family understanding of educational content and their involvement in the plan of care.
- Document patient records and perform other clinical support responsibilities as delegated and supervised by the physician.
- Greet patients, answer telephones, schedule appointments, check out patients, and refer patients to specialists.
- Arrange for hospital admissions and laboratory services, update and file patient medical records, fill out insurance forms, handle billing and bookkeeping, and order clinical and clerical supplies and forms.
- Perform other administrative duties as directed, including serving as a liaison for clinic activities and participating in clinic committees.
- Certification by AAMA, AMT, NHA-CCMA, NCMA, or ARMA required.
- BLS certification required.
- Graduation from a medical assistant program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) strongly preferred.
- High school or GED graduation required.
- At least 1 year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant in a clinical setting required for Level II and III positions.
This position is located in a healthcare setting and requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
