Job Summary

Noblis MSD is seeking a highly skilled Marine Engineering Specialist to support Cross Platform Engineering Support Services (ESS) for the Naval Systems Engineering and Logistics Directorate (NAVSEA 05).

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee Technical Authority execution for all surface ship, aircraft carriers, and submarine classes.
  • Develop and maintain specifications, standards, and processes.
  • Provide first response for ship incidents, including groundings, collisions, battle damage, and critical equipment failures.
  • Manage and oversee Marine Engineering equipment material readiness initiatives, including fleet spares, gas turbine overhauls, diesel engines, steam systems, and submarine atmospheric control.
  • Develop cost reduction efforts and lead initiatives for future power capabilities, energy conservation, and new technologies.
  • Identify trends in reliability and operational availability of mechanical systems.
  • Assist diesel technical warrant holders with managing reliability issues related to ship service diesel generators, emergency diesel generators, and associated Diesel Maintenance strategies.
  • Provide in-depth knowledge and maintenance recommendations for combustion engines and power train systems.
  • Assist lead systems engineers with electrical system architecture, including power generation, conversion, propulsion, battery proliferation, and battery certification authority.
  • Develop long-term sustainable options for the reliability and availability of electrical systems.
  • Provide expertise and troubleshooting for Hull, Deck, and Auxiliary Systems, including Lube Oil Quality Management and additive manufacturing technology integration.
  • Assist engineering leads in weapons and cargo handling and aviation support equipment, including Advanced Weapon Elevator systems and associated control systems, cargo elevators, and deck equipment requirements evaluation.
  • Assist the lead systems engineers in deck and underway replenishment systems, including davits, launch and recovery equipment, and anchor windlass equipment.
  • Support efforts in AI, machine learning, and predictive data analytics and develop models and algorithms for use in planning and forecasting for future maintenance.
  • Support Government requirements with emergent engineering projects.
Requirements
  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience and a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Expert knowledge in one or more areas for the design, development, and implementation of technical products, systems for all Navy vessels.
  • Understanding of technical authority and policy guidance under Government direction.
  • Travel at least 10%.
  • A DoD Secret or the ability to obtain a Secret.
Desired Qualifications
  • Master's degree in engineering and 7 years of relevant work experience.
  • Expertise in multiple Naval engineering disciplines.
  • Project management experience.
