Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a leading shipbuilding company, is seeking a skilled Shipbuilding Engineer to join our team in Washington, DC.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating functional design deliverables from engineering calculations and guidance, and cost-effective detailed design ship production deliverables using the functional design documentation.

The Shipbuilding Engineer will assist in determining the technical requirements of the project and in defining resource requirements to achieve schedule commitments within the field of competence.

The role involves solving technical issues under the guidance of the department supervision, planning, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring assigned work, tracking and reporting progress to commitments, overseeing the work status of assigned resources, facilitating communications of issues and solutions within assigned departments, preparing, checking, and issuing professional-quality deliverables, interpreting contract requirements, and developing contract change documents to support project needs.

The ideal candidate will have an Associate's Degree in an engineering or design field of competence or equivalent, with 2-5 years of experience in the marine field of competence. They will also possess a working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and review and approval process.

The Shipbuilding Engineer will be required to maintain a professional demeanor, have effective written and verbal communication skills, and be able to maintain confidentiality. A basic Earned Value Management System competency is desirable, and the ability to obtain and hold a level of Secret Clearance is required.
