Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Mortgage Processor is integral to ensuring the effective and seamless handling of mortgage and home equity applications. This role involves the thorough examination and validation of loan documentation to guarantee adherence to underwriting standards and regulatory mandates, while also collaborating with various stakeholders to streamline the mortgage approval and closing procedures. The Mortgage Processor is responsible for the precision and completeness of all loan documentation leading up to and including the closing stage, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and internal policies.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assess and scrutinize mortgage applications to confirm the completeness and accuracy of submitted information.
  2. Authenticate applicant details, including income verification, employment history, credit evaluations, and property appraisals.
  3. Engage with loan officers, underwriters, and applicants to collect any additional documents or clarifications required.
  4. Analyze the financial standing and creditworthiness of applicants to establish eligibility for mortgage financing.
  5. Ensure all documentation aligns with regulatory and organizational standards, including but not limited to TILA and RESPA guidelines.
  6. Maintain effective communication with applicants, real estate professionals, and other relevant parties to provide updates on mortgage application statuses.
  7. Organize loan files for underwriting assessment, ensuring all necessary documents are compiled and presented accurately.
  8. Work collaboratively with underwriters to resolve any outstanding conditions or documentation necessary for loan approval.
  9. Keep precise and current records of all mortgage applications and associated communications.
  10. Prepare closing disclosures and other essential documents in compliance with TRID regulations.
  11. Coordinate with title companies, legal representatives, and other stakeholders to arrange and facilitate loan closings.
  12. Conduct final evaluations of closing documents to verify accuracy and completeness.
  13. Compile funding packages and submit loans for funding promptly.
  14. Assist in addressing any issues or discrepancies that may occur during the mortgage processing and approval phases.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. High proficiency in technology and the ability to quickly adapt to new software and systems.
  2. Strong command of the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying expectations to clients while positively representing the organization.
  3. Mental and visual acuity necessary for effectively utilizing technology and entering data into systems.
  4. Exceptional attention to detail, robust organizational abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple loan files and contacts simultaneously.
  5. Ability to uphold the confidentiality of customer and employee information, as well as proprietary business practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of five years' experience in mortgage processing and closing, with a solid understanding of mortgage lending practices and regulations.
  2. Familiarity with pertinent regulations and guidelines, including FHA, VA, and conventional loan standards.
  3. Outstanding attention to detail and organizational capabilities.
  4. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and loan origination software (LOS) is required; experience with Encompass LOS is preferred.
  5. An associate degree in finance or business administration is preferred.
  6. Supervisory experience in mortgage operations is advantageous.
