Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Mortgage Processor is essential in ensuring the effective and seamless handling of mortgage and home equity applications. This role involves the meticulous review and validation of loan documentation to guarantee adherence to underwriting standards and regulatory mandates, while also collaborating with various stakeholders to streamline the mortgage approval and closing procedures. The individual in this position is responsible for the precision and thoroughness of all loan documents leading up to and including the closing stage, as well as ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering laws.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Examine and assess mortgage applications for completeness and accuracy.
  2. Authenticate applicant details, including income, employment history, credit assessments, and property appraisals.
  3. Work closely with loan officers, underwriters, and applicants to collect any additional information or clarifications as necessary.
  4. Analyze the financial standing and creditworthiness of applicants to establish eligibility for mortgage loans.
  5. Ensure all documentation aligns with regulatory and company standards, including Truth in Lending (TILA) and Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA) requirements.
  6. Maintain effective communication with applicants, real estate professionals, and other involved parties to provide updates on mortgage application statuses.
  7. Prepare loan files for underwriting evaluation, ensuring all required documents are organized and packaged appropriately.
  8. Collaborate with underwriters to resolve any outstanding conditions or documentation necessary for loan approval.
  9. Keep accurate and current records of all mortgage applications and associated correspondence.
  10. Draft closing disclosures and other necessary documents in compliance with TRID regulations.
  11. Coordinate with title companies, legal representatives, and other stakeholders to arrange and facilitate loan closings.
  12. Conduct final assessments of closing documents to confirm accuracy and completeness.
  13. Compile funding packages and submit loans for funding promptly.
  14. Assist in addressing any issues or discrepancies that may arise during the mortgage processing and approval phases.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  1. Proficient in technology and capable of mastering new software and tools.
  2. Strong command of the English language with excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying expectations to clients while positively representing the bank.
  3. Ability to effectively utilize technology and input data into systems with mental and visual acuity.
  4. Exceptional attention to detail, outstanding organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple loan files and contacts simultaneously.
  5. Commitment to maintaining the confidentiality of customer and employee information, as well as proprietary business practices.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. A minimum of five years of experience in mortgage processing and closing, with a solid understanding of mortgage lending practices and regulations.
  2. Familiarity with relevant regulations and guidelines, including FHA, VA, and conventional loan requirements.
  3. Demonstrated attention to detail and strong organizational capabilities.
  4. Experience with Microsoft Office and loan origination software (LOS) is required; familiarity with Encompass LOS is preferred.
  5. An associate degree in finance or business administration is preferred.
  6. Previous supervisory experience in mortgage operations is advantageous.

Generally favorable, with minimal discomfort from heat, noise, dust, or other environmental factors.
