Customer Service Specialist

OVERVIEW:

The Customer Service Specialist plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between customer service, scheduling, carriers, and manufacturing teams to guarantee timely shipments associated with the Augusta Mill Operation. This position also supports facility liaisons responsible for managing paper machine and rewinder schedules, as well as overseeing on-site and overflow warehouse inventories and logistics for inbound and outbound shipments.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Receive, process, and track customer orders to align with the facility's overall business strategy.
  2. Ensure smooth communication regarding specifications, orders, and customer requirements to the manufacturing team.
  3. Maintain the integrity of the backlog system for the Paper Machine and transportation to support timely deliveries.
  4. Inform customer service about order statuses and assist in managing customer delivery needs.
  5. Coordinate with carriers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.
  6. Review support orders for accuracy and completeness.
  7. Monitor finished goods inventory and coordinate shuttle services to the offsite warehouse.
  8. Assist facility liaisons in managing schedules and inventory through effective forecasting and auditing.
  9. Participate in safety initiatives within the department and facility.
  10. Provide backup support for facility liaison roles and the Logistics Manager as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant experience in transportation or customer service within the manufacturing sector. Candidates with a degree may have experience criteria waived. A solid understanding of manufacturing capabilities, scheduling, and product knowledge is essential.

EDUCATION:

A High School Diploma or GED is required. A BA or BS in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field is preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This position generally follows a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday, but flexibility for alternate schedules, including early mornings, nights, and weekends, is required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The role involves sitting or standing for extended periods, walking distances, and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Proficiency in using various office tools and equipment is necessary.
