Position Overview

The Certified CT Imaging Specialist at Raleigh Radiology plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality CT imaging services and radiographic procedures to outpatient clients. This professional is tasked with ensuring seamless patient care coordination while adhering to established protocols, policies, and specific operational guidelines.

This role is situated within the Midtown facility.

Key Responsibilities

1) General Imaging Duties

The specialist is responsible for:

  • Upholding professional care standards and ensuring patient confidentiality.
  • Implementing the operational policies and procedures of Raleigh Radiology.
  • Conducting imaging procedures safely, efficiently, and professionally, following all required protocols.
  • Evaluating patients' physical and psychological conditions, prioritizing their needs, and providing appropriate responses, including discharge education.
  • Documenting and reporting relevant observations and reactions to the care provided.
  • Administering contrast agents to designated patients.
  • Assisting with specific tests and procedures as necessary.
  • Participating in the economical use of supplies.
  • Ensuring that imaging equipment is well-maintained and readily available.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and physicians to deliver optimal patient care.
  • Maintaining open lines of communication.
  • Utilizing educational opportunities with patients and their families.
  • Initiating emergency measures for sudden adverse events in patients.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-equipped environment for both patients and staff.
  • Cooperating with team members across departments to fulfill job responsibilities and assist others as needed.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

2) Patient Care Activities

The specialist will:

  • Gather initial patient history and perform assessments.
  • Complete and document patient history forms.
  • Engage with patients to foster a positive experience.
  • Conduct assessments that may include:
    • Vital signs and lab value interpretation
    • History of the current complaint
    • Relevant medical history
    • Medication lists and dosages
    • Allergy information
    • Other pertinent assessment details
  • Continuously observe and assess patients throughout their visit.
  • Document assessments and changes in patient conditions accurately.
  • Provide precise information regarding patient history to Radiologists for accurate image interpretation.

3) Safety and Infection Control

The specialist must:

  • Adhere to safety and infection control policies.
  • Report any unsafe equipment and ensure follow-up actions.
  • Assess patients and plan for safety and infection control measures.
  • Ensure all necessary equipment is available and functional.
  • Document incidents and unusual occurrences as per departmental policies.

4) Additional Responsibilities

The specialist will:

  • Utilize growth and development principles to assess and meet each patient's age-specific needs.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all patient and facility-related information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program with additional training in CT.

Experience: Previous experience in a busy healthcare setting is preferred.

Certification:

  • CPR certification is required or must be obtained within the first six months of employment.
  • Successful completion of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists registry within 12 months of employment.
  • Successful completion of the CT registry with ARRT within 12 months of employment or initiation of CT training.

Licensure: None required.
