About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Technician to join our team at Jacobs, a leading provider of technical, professional, and construction services. As a Mechanical Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the testing and evaluation of chemical and biological defense systems, incendiary and smoke/obscuration munitions systems, and related operational concepts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that test facilities are ready for agent operations, including verifying safety equipment and maintaining emergency shower, fire extinguishers, ventilation systems.
  • Assist with the design, setup, operation, and retrograde of various test fixtures used in testing chemical warfare agents.
  • Conduct quarterly safety inspections with the DPG Safety office and maintain a clean and test-ready environment.
  • Manage personal protective equipment (PPE), decontamination supplies, communication equipment, and mechanical equipment used for testing.
  • Understand and operate the building control system.
  • Assist with receipt inspections, test fixture setup, and removal.
  • Work effectively in a team environment and independently, with the ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Manage medical surveillance and maintain positive customer and employee relations.
  • Work flexible hours, including all shifts, to meet critical mission requirements.
  • Hold a valid driver's license and demonstrate safety awareness and understanding of the Dugway Team Safety Program.

Requirements:

  • At least five years' experience in the calibration, operation, maintenance, fabrication, and repair of mechanical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with building exhaust systems and ability to perform maintenance, including replacement of worn belts, greasing of bearings, repair of fans, blowers, and discharge stacks, and adjustment of volume dampers and hood baffles in test fixtures.
  • Fabrication/welding of test fixtures.
  • Desired experience with vibration systems and cryogenic liquids, high-pressure liquids, and oxygen-displacing vapors (CO2 and N2).
  • Experience using various instrumentation, such as temperature, relative humidity, air velocity, pH, conductivity, and particulate concentration.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Work Environment:

The work environment will be generally outdoor, but may involve inside or outside work depending on the task. The inside environment may be a cubicle with close quarters, low to moderate noise, and bright or dim lighting. Outside work may include various environmental conditions, including hot and cold climates. The ability to work well with coworkers and all levels of management is essential.

Equipment and Machines:

The ability to operate office equipment, such as a personal computer, printer, copy machine, telephone, fax machine, and other equipment, including desk supplies and other work-related tools as required.

Attendance:

Regular hours will be between Monday-Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Punctuality and regular attendance are necessary to meet deadlines. The ability to exhibit flexibility of work hours to adjust to surge situations based on critical mission requirements is essential.

Other Essential Functions:

Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a professional manner. Independent personal transportation to the office or work site is required. Travel to and from customer locations and the test fields may be required to support projects, which may involve airline travel. When operating any vehicle for work purposes, wear a seatbelt and refrain from using cellular devices while in motion.
