Job Overview

The Laboratory Technician II role involves engaging in testing and observational tasks. The incumbent will be expected to follow guidance from senior personnel while demonstrating meticulous attention to detail to ensure safe working conditions and accurate data capture during experiments. Proficiency in observation and documentation is essential, with the capability to transform notes into formal reports and incident documentation. The role also requires the ability to establish and maintain a data collection database, providing comprehensive support to scientists and senior staff with test-related documentation as needed. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications

Essential Skills and Qualifications

* Associate degree or completion of a 2-year technical program
* At least five years of relevant experience
* Practical knowledge of scientific or engineering principles to accurately interpret data collection and entry methods. Familiarity with mathematics or computer science may also be necessary
* Ability to generate detailed test data reports utilizing electronic and computer-based records, files, and documentation
* Competence in inputting test data into specialized systems for analysis
* Skills in preparing work diagrams, basic data reports, and data flow charts using standard software applications
* Responsibilities may also encompass those associated with Scientific Technician I duties
* Strong observation and note-taking abilities, with the skill to convert notes into formal observations and incident reports
* Effective communication skills
* Capability to establish and maintain a data collection database
* Provide overall documentation support related to testing for scientists and senior staff as required

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

* This position may involve work in a controlled office environment or outdoor settings at the testing facility
* Must be able to sit and enter data on a computer keyboard for extended periods
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds unassisted
* Reasonable accommodations can be made to assist individuals with disabilities in performing the essential duties of the position

Employment Terms and Eligibility Criteria

Must be a U.S. Citizen
* Successful completion of a background check is required
* Must possess or be eligible to obtain a security clearance prior to employment and maintain it throughout the duration of employment
* High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory
* A valid driver's license from Utah, without special restrictions, is required
