Job Overview

Position: Electronics Technician II

Role Summary: The Electronics Technician II is responsible for the operational support and upkeep of advanced electronic systems, specifically the Multiple Threat Emitter System (MUTES) and the Joint Threat Emitter (JTE). This role includes executing RF (radio frequency) threat simulations for various test missions utilizing established RF simulators.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine and complex preventive maintenance and repairs on assigned electronic systems and equipment, addressing issues down to the component level. Guide junior technicians as necessary during the repair of intricate equipment failures. The equipment includes high-power electronic transmitters and receivers, digital and analog circuits, industrial measuring devices, microwave amplifiers, and high-voltage power supplies.
  2. Engage in basic fabrication and installation tasks for the assembly of mechanical and electronic components, following detailed technical specifications and procedures. Oversee the hardware fabrication, installation, integration, testing, and validation of threat systems.
  3. Set up and operate Smokey Sam launchers and rockets in alignment with mission specifications.
  4. Manage the operation and maintenance of threat systems, subsystems, and supporting units.
  5. Document and track all maintenance activities and property management data using Maximo.
  6. Maintain operational logs and mission summaries, ensuring accurate entry of status, repair, and utilization data in the necessary equipment tracking systems.
  7. Design and fabricate targets, reflectors, and aim points, ensuring the service and repair of infrared targets as needed.

Additional Duties:

Perform other related tasks as assigned by management, which may include supporting various work centers during peak periods. This may involve cross-training in different functional areas to achieve overall contract performance goals.

Qualifications:

Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited two-year technical program with coursework in Mathematics, Basic Electronics, and Microwave Theory, or military training with a focus on Communications or RF disciplines.

Experience: A minimum of four years of hands-on experience as a technician with a focus on operating and maintaining digital and analog equipment, leading to a comprehensive understanding of systems theory.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective communication skills in both written and verbal forms.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills for data evaluation and problem resolution.
  • Capability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Proficient in computer usage for data entry and retrieval.
  • Experience working in an ISO compliant environment.

Knowledge Requirements: Proficiency in computer systems and intermediate-level networking skills. Familiarity with the Standard Base Supply System is advantageous but not mandatory. Must possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend English. Eligibility for a Government Secret Security Clearance is required, along with a valid driver's license.

Work Environment: The role involves working in a range environment, often at remote locations, requiring prolonged periods of sitting while using computers and telephones. Constant visual and auditory engagement is necessary for effective communication. Physical demands include the ability to lift at least 40 lbs unassisted, climb ladders and equipment to heights of 50 feet, and work flexible hours, including weekends. Travel may be required as per company needs.
