IT Support Technician Job Overview:


The IT Support Technician serves as the primary contact for end-users seeking technical assistance and maintenance within the organization's technological framework.

This role encompasses the installation, diagnosis, repair, maintenance, and upgrading of all hardware and software components.

The individual will also address problem areas (in person, via telephone, or through email) promptly and accurately, providing necessary end-user support and training.

The ability to resolve user and system issues, often in urgent situations, with minimal oversight from management is essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES of the IT Support Technician include the following:

  • Provide support for business applications (e.g., point-of-sale systems, hospitality management software)
  • Set up, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot teleconferencing tools, multimedia devices, televisions, monitors, projectors, recording devices, audio systems, digital cameras, and other presentation technology.
  • Respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or emails regarding hardware and software issues.
  • Conduct on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of technology-related problems for various end users, recommending and implementing corrective actions, including off-site repairs as necessary.
  • Document occurrences of audiovisual equipment failures, repairs, installations, and removals.
  • Maintain current knowledge of audiovisual equipment contracts and oversee contract-based installations.
  • Build and manage a spare parts inventory for all critical hardware components.
  • Develop and keep an inventory of all hardware equipment; periodically audit inventories to reduce the risk of damage or theft.
  • Evaluate the need for and implement performance enhancements to computers, including the installation of CPUs, I/O and NIC cards, hard drives, RAM, and optical drives.
  • Address and execute installs, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC) requests.
  • Assist in the preparation, maintenance, and enforcement of procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations.
  • If necessary, coordinate with third-party support and hardware/software vendors.
  • Document instances of hardware failures, repairs, installations, and removals.
  • Ensure prompt resolution of all technology-related issues. Be available on-call as scheduled for after-hours and weekend emergencies and remain accessible at all times for any urgent situations that may arise.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

A high school diploma or GED is required. A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from an accredited institution is preferred.

Three to five years of relevant work experience, with one to three years in a Casino, Hospitality, Banking, or Entertainment environment, or another high-volume, complex, customer-focused IT setting.


SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:


One or more technical certifications are preferred, such as Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician, Microsoft Office Specialist, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or other related technical certifications.

Proficiency in operating tools, components, and peripheral accessories is required. Basic knowledge of IBM's AS400/System i5 system platform is beneficial.

Availability to work Wednesday through Sunday, from 1:30 PM to 10 PM.
