Position Overview

The Records & Information Management Specialist plays a crucial role within the Command Total Force and Operations (SEA 10) Directorate of NAVAL SEA SYSTEMS COMMAND. This position involves a variety of responsibilities centered around the effective management of records and information.

Key Responsibilities

The selected candidate will:

  • Engage in a variety of tasks related to Records Management Inspection Reviews, evaluating complex functional areas.
  • Contribute to the planning, management, and execution of core mission and administrative records systems across NAVSEA.
  • Assist in organizing, directing, reviewing, and establishing controls for all NAVSEA records activities.
  • Ensure compliance with federal regulations and review General Records Schedules issued by the National Archives and Records Administration.
  • Support the development of evaluation and survey tools for assessing the Command Records Management Program and recommend necessary corrective actions.
  • Collaborate closely with legal counsel within the Department of the Navy (DON) to manage records and information assets, mitigating litigation risks.
  • Consult with the NAVSEA Chief Information Officer (CIO) Office to ensure records management technology aligns with DON enterprise architecture.
  • Work with the NAVSEA CIO to integrate records management functionality into NAVSEA's enterprise architecture and ensure all information systems incorporate this functionality.
  • Identify the need for additional inspections based on data gathered during Command Inspections.
Conditions of Employment

Applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be deemed suitable for federal employment.
  • Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

  • Retired military members must adhere to provisions regarding civilian positions within 180 days of retirement.
  • Males born after must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Must obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to duty commencement.
  • This position may require travel to various locations, including remote or isolated sites.
Qualifications

Candidates should demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower pay band, NH-02 (GS-11 equivalent), in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector, providing guidance in record management activities to ensure proper identification, retrieval, maintenance, or disposition of records.
