Key Responsibilities

  • Recruit, select, train, schedule, mentor, and assist team members, ensuring adherence to established brand or hotel standards and alignment with core values.
  • Address guest complaints and issues by conducting thorough investigations and determining the most effective resolutions.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction scores and strive to enhance departmental and overall guest satisfaction.
  • Engage in lobby ambassador initiatives and other activities aimed at fostering individual guest interactions, thereby cultivating relationships that encourage repeat visits.
  • Manage front office operations during the absence of the Front Office Manager or Assistant General Manager.
  • Conduct bookkeeping tasks such as account balancing and audits.
  • Handle reservations and confirmations.
  • Promote Hersha Hospitality and brand-specific marketing initiatives.
  • Welcome guests upon arrival; register and assign them to their accommodations.
  • Provide welcome packets containing room keys, certificates, coupons, and refreshment center keys as necessary.
  • Calculate bills, collect payments, manage cash transactions, and provide change to guests.
  • Finalize guest accounts at check-out; in cases of dissatisfaction, negotiate compromises, which may include authorizing revenue adjustments.
  • Develop specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely action plans to address guest service shortcomings.
  • Ensure that the hotel entrance, reception, and other public areas are maintained in terms of cleanliness and appearance.
  • Adhere to sustainability guidelines and practices associated with the EarthView program.
  • Follow safe work practices, utilize protective safety equipment, and comply with MSDS and OSHA standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • New York City Fire Safety Director Certification preferred.

Work Environment

  • Work schedule may vary and can include shifts during holidays and weekends.
  • Requires prolonged standing, walking, pushing, lifting up to 25 pounds, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
