Overview of the Role


MedStar Health is seeking a PRN Physical Therapist to contribute to our healthcare services.

As a PRN Physical Therapist, your role will involve assessing and treating patients based on contemporary practices in Physical Therapy. These responsibilities will be carried out in compliance with all relevant regulations and MedStar Health's operational standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts comprehensive PT evaluations and re-evaluations, assessing both prior and current functional levels, establishing suitable goals, and making informed discharge recommendations aligned with best practices. Provides direct PT interventions according to established standards, including educating patients and families, advancing treatment plans, and executing appropriate therapeutic techniques.
  • Employs the correct documentation methods and adheres to PM&R's documentation protocols. Works collaboratively with physicians and healthcare team members regarding patient treatment and progress, as well as with external agencies for effective discharge planning.
  • Manages and prioritizes personal schedule in relation to patient treatment demands and departmental obligations.
  • Exhibits proper usage and upkeep of departmental equipment and supplies.
  • Maintains Continuing Education Units (CEUs) as mandated by state regulations for ongoing professional development. Complies with all Department of Health and Joint Commission standards concerning the physical environment and patient care.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.
  • 1-2 years of relevant clinical experience in an acute care or rehabilitation setting.
  • Current D.C. (District of Columbia) Physical Therapy license or eligibility for licensure.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
