Position Overview

The STARBASE Instructor plays a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of middle school students through innovative program delivery and curriculum design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Curriculum Development and Instruction (80%):
    • Collaborate in the creation and execution of the STARBASE program, aimed at enhancing STEM education in after-school settings.
    • Contribute to the STARBASE 2.0 initiative, ensuring its effective implementation.
    • Design comprehensive curriculum and course outlines tailored for instructional purposes.
    • Establish clear learning objectives and develop strategic plans prior to program initiation in participating schools.
    • Deliver instruction and assess the effectiveness of educational methodologies.
    • Engage in co-teaching practices, employing diverse strategies alongside fellow educators.
    • Manage and organize educational resources and materials efficiently.
  • Policy Development (15%):
    • Assist in formulating policies and procedures that enhance program effectiveness.
    • Support the Program Director in resolving challenges and improving program outcomes.
    • Prepare detailed analyses and recommendations for program enhancements.
    • Participate in annual evaluations, data collection, and analysis to inform program improvements.
    • Complete all mandated training and adhere to safety regulations.
  • Liaison Responsibilities (5%):
    • Facilitate the development of partnerships with educational stakeholders.
    • Support public relations and outreach initiatives to promote the STARBASE program.
    • Provide supplementary resources and assistance to educators involved in STARBASE.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary, including support during emergency situations as directed by state authorities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM or Education-related field.
  • Strong foundation in mathematics, science, aerospace, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated motivation and ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of instructional design principles.
  • Proficient in planning, organizing, and preparing instructional materials.
  • Capability to instruct, assess training needs, and formulate effective learning objectives.
  • Ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships.
  • Experience in curriculum development is essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possession of a valid state education certification.
  • Experience in elementary education is advantageous.
