Clinical Nurse Specialist

Key Responsibilities
- Eligible new hires may receive a $7,500 Sign-On Bonus or up to $10,000 in Student Loan Repayment.
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care within adult correctional facilities by employing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with established standards of practice.
- Ensure a high standard of care through various services, including round-the-clock nursing support, telehealth services, chronic care management, triage for sick calls, medication administration, patient education, and emergency care.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all relevant information in health records while upholding confidentiality and collaborating with other departments as necessary.
- Registered Nurses are expected to delegate tasks effectively and manage their workload across assigned hours, days, and locations.
- Provide coverage as required to address institutional needs.
- Commit to delivering evidence-based nursing care and advancing professional competence through ongoing education and certification, particularly in the field of correctional nursing.
- Be prepared for potential reassignment to different duties or locations to fulfill the clinical and administrative requirements of the department.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted RN license in Virginia (recent nursing program graduates in Virginia must have scheduled the NCLEX-RN Exam at the time of application).
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for healthcare providers, with current credentials from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC), is required upon hiring.
Additional Considerations
- Prior experience in a correctional healthcare environment is preferred.
