Ambulatory Care Medical Assistant

Position Overview:
The Medical Assistant in the Ambulatory setting plays a crucial role in delivering quality healthcare services. Reporting to the Ambulatory Clinical Manager and/or Practice Manager, this position operates under the general supervision of licensed practitioners while adhering to established protocols and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient screenings and collect vital signs, ensuring all procedures align with the specific needs of various age groups, including geriatric, adolescent, and pediatric patients.
- Prepare patients for examinations by escorting them to the examination room, taking vital signs, and documenting pertinent information in the patient’s chart.
- Manage patient flow efficiently throughout the clinic, ensuring a seamless experience for all patients.
- Perform diagnostic tests such as blood pressure readings, EKGs, and other point-of-care tests as per established protocols.
- Assist healthcare providers during physical examinations, employing aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment.
- Administer vaccinations and follow clinic protocols for patient care.
- Coordinate follow-up activities post-visit, including tracking lab results and managing referrals for specialty care.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of examination rooms, ensuring all medical equipment is functional and properly stocked.
- Engage in administrative tasks, including scheduling appointments and managing patient communications.
Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with completion of a formal Medical Assistant training program or relevant experience in an ambulatory setting. Basic Life Support certification is essential, along with proficiency in using electronic medical records and other healthcare software.
Work Environment:
This role is situated within a healthcare environment, requiring interaction with patients and the use of medical equipment. The position may involve physical activity, including lifting and moving patients and supplies.
