Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the development of innovative medical devices. The ideal candidate will have experience in mechanical design and development, as well as a strong understanding of engineering principles and scientific concepts.

The successful candidate will work closely with design and process engineers to create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings of machined and molded parts and assemblies. They will also be responsible for producing product, tooling, and equipment drawings, as well as revising existing drawings from sketches, models, and manual measurement of actual parts.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Creating 3D models and 2D engineering drawings of machined and molded parts and assemblies
  • Producing product, tooling, and equipment drawings or revising existing drawings from sketches, models, and manual measurement of actual parts
  • Working with design and process engineers to document prototype and production fixtures
  • Collaborating with engineers and designers to detect and correct discrepancies in drawings and design
  • Creating "Bill of Materials" for assembly and schematic drawings
  • Creating, editing, and approving engineering changes, work instructions, and other documentation as required
  • Supporting transducer/part/process qualifications and V&V activities
  • Using and providing regular maintenance for 3D printers
  • Providing informal, formal, and timely communication to managers and supervisors

Qualifications and requirements include:

  • Associate of specialized technology degree (or similar) with 2 years mechanical drafting experience, OR 5 years mechanical drafting experience
  • Demonstrates an understanding of basic engineering and scientific principles
  • Skilled user of 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks (and/or Creo)
  • Microsoft Office software
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T); Metrology and measuring equipment e.g. CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.
  • Adept at prioritizing tasks and handling a dynamic and diverse workload
