Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our team at GE Healthcare. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing new medical devices and improving existing products and processes.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical design and development, with experience in the medical device industry or similar regulated environment. You will work closely with our clinical application experts to define and optimize transducer designs, and with our process engineers to design and document manufacturing production fixtures.

You will also be responsible for creating, editing, and approving engineering changes, work instructions, and other documentation as required. Additionally, you will support transducer/part/process qualifications and V&V activities, and provide both informal and formal communications to the management team on project status.

Responsibilities
  • Design and document new part designs and changes to existing parts according to internal and external requirements
  • Work with in-house clinical application experts to define and optimize transducer designs
  • Work with process engineers to design and document manufacturing production fixtures
  • Create, edit, and approve engineering changes, work instructions, and other documentation as required
  • Support transducer/part/process qualifications and V&V activities
  • Provide both informal and formal communications to the management team on project status
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of experience OR Associates Degree in Engineering and 5+ years of experience
  • Expert skill with 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks (and/or Creo)
  • Working knowledge of design for manufacturability of common production processes e.g. CNC machining, injection molding, 3D Printing; Engineering material properties & FEA software; Dimensioning & Tolerancing, including GD&T & tolerance stacks; Measuring equipment e.g. CMM, calipers, micrometers, etc.; PLM & PDM systems such as Agile, Solidworks ePDM, etc.; Microsoft Office software; Statistical approaches to analyzing data
