Clinical Advanced Practice Specialist - Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in Gynecologic Oncology and Reproductive Medicine

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of one year of experience as an Advanced Practice Provider (APP). Experience in Medical and/or Surgical Oncology is advantageous. Recent graduates from APRN or PA Fellowship programs are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Clinical Advanced Practice Specialist, you will deliver exceptional patient care tailored to individual diagnoses, treatment plans, age groups, and developmental needs. Your role will include:
  • Conducting comprehensive health assessments through detailed medical histories, physical examinations, and psychosocial evaluations.
  • Monitoring and interpreting laboratory results, clinical imaging, and procedural data.
  • Collaborating with physicians to review findings and develop further diagnostic and therapeutic strategies.
Patient Care Management:
In partnership with physicians and allied health professionals, you will:
  • Evaluate and adjust treatment plans based on patient responses and healthcare outcomes.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary activities, including writing orders and consulting with other healthcare team members.
  • Provide emergency triage and medical services until a physician is available.
  • Document patient interactions, including history and physical notes, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
  • Order necessary diagnostic tests as directed by the supervising physician.
  • Deliver comprehensive care throughout the continuum of the disease process, including prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care.
  • Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and the healthcare team.
  • Engage in interdisciplinary team conferences related to Gynecology and Radiation.
  • Assist with data management and patient record maintenance.
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Procedures:
As part of your role, you will:
  • Receive training in specific medical procedures and demonstrate competency under physician supervision.
  • Perform essential medical procedures, including wound care and removal of catheters, while providing patient education on managing side effects.
  • Promote positive health behaviors through patient education and counseling.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Stay current with advances in gynecologic oncology and surgical patient care through continuing education and professional development.
  • Participate in research initiatives and apply findings to enhance patient care.
Outpatient and Inpatient Responsibilities:
In the outpatient setting, you will:
  • Work in various clinics based on clinical needs, including Gynecologic Oncology and General Gynecology.
  • Contribute to service line improvements and care team transformations.
In the inpatient setting, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing care for patients while other medical staff are engaged in clinic or operating room duties.
  • Acting as the primary provider for service consultations during designated hours.
Qualifications:
Applicants must meet the educational requirements set forth by the Texas Board of Nursing or the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Prior experience in an Oncology setting is essential.

Additional Requirements:
Candidates must possess written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing or the Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners to practice as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant, and must be eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Texas.
