Accounting Support Senior Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Support Senior Specialist to join our team at Ohio University. This role will be responsible for providing exceptional support to our accounting functions, maintaining accurate records, and serving as the initial contact for customers.
Key Responsibilities- Supports the organization's accounting functions, including maintaining up-to-date and accurate records of daily transactions, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventories, payroll, and other records.
- Serves as the initial contact for customers, providing exceptional customer service and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
- Directs work, trains, and/or supervises other staff or student employees, ensuring that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Performs financial analyses and makes recommendations based on data, providing insights that inform business decisions.
- Reviews the work of other employees for accuracy and compliance with accepted standards and University policies.
- Completes and submits institutional surveys for publishers and agencies, ensuring that our institution is represented accurately and positively.
- Issues purchase orders in accordance with functional policy, communicating with internal and external customers to manage purchasing.
- Analyzes and monitors department and program budgets, approving and tracking expenditures to ensure that we are operating within our means.
- Collections – Collects delinquent accounts in accordance with appropriate federal and state regulations, working collaboratively with management and other collection staff to effectively support the collection process.
- Customer Service – Provides customer service to students, parents, sponsors, departments, and others via phone, email, and in-person contacts, answering questions and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
We are seeking a candidate with a high school degree or GED or equivalent and a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Knowledge of finance and business technical and practical concepts is essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively with others to achieve our goals.
