Job Summary

Incarnate Word High School, an all-girls Catholic high school sponsored by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word, seeks a Religion teacher to join our faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Religion courses and contributing to the school's mission to provide a fully and authentically Catholic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Curriculum Development: Prepare curriculum documents, including standards, scope and sequences, syllabi, and lesson plans, to ensure a comprehensive and engaging learning experience for students.
  • Instructional Strategies: Utilize varied and effective instructional strategies, activities, and materials to promote student success and achievement in Religion courses.
  • Assessment and Evaluation: Consistently monitor student achievement through formative and summative assessments, and update the school's electronic gradebook site with lesson plans and student grades.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and administration, and collaborate with other faculty members for professional, instructional, and supervisory duties.
  • Professional Development: Attend faculty meetings, events, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and Catholic education.
Requirements
  • Catholic Identity: Be an active Catholic with a desire and ability to lead young people by example into a deeper communion with our faith, our Blessed Mother, and her Son, Jesus Christ.
  • Curriculum Knowledge: Have knowledge of both curriculum and instruction, and the ability to engage and instruct students in the content area.
  • Classroom Management: Have the ability to manage a classroom and student behavior, and promptly address student needs through interventions.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, and co-workers, and be a lifelong learner of their practice.
  • Education and Certification: Hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Theology, and a valid Texas Teacher's Certificate or 12 credit hours in education courses.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Catholic Education Experience: Have experience teaching in a Catholic school setting.
  • Technology Proficiency: Be proficient in technology, including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, multimedia presentations, and internet use for educational purposes.
