Job Summary

The Memorial Hermann Health System is seeking a highly skilled Patient Safety Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our quality improvement team, the Patient Safety Specialist will play a critical role in coordinating patient safety programs within our hospitals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough investigations and root cause analyses of adverse events to identify system-based causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient safety strategies, including education and training programs.
  • Facilitate safety assessments and coordinate activities of patient safety committees to ensure compliance with national and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement patient safety improvement projects, working closely with physicians, directors, and clinical staff.
  • Collect, analyze, and report patient safety and financial data to inform quality improvement initiatives.
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and teamwork to foster a culture of safety and excellence.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing, pharmacy, or a related healthcare field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a healthcare setting, with 2 years in quality, risk, or patient safety activities.
  • Leadership capabilities and effective communication skills.
  • Proficient in event analysis methodologies and high reliability methodology.
  • Experience in healthcare education and training.
