Job Overview

A newly established family investment office is on the lookout for a Fund Accountant to thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial setting. This position is crucial in assisting with the accounting, finance, and investment operations.


ROLE SUMMARY

The selected candidate will:

  • Collaborate closely with the management team to define and implement top-tier accounting and investment operational procedures, enhancing family and corporate investment decision-making.
  • Support financial accounting and investment operations related to the current and expanding investment structure, encompassing all entities managed by the family office.
  • Work alongside team members and external providers to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting for corporate and family decision-making. Proactively identify opportunities to streamline and enhance operations.
  • Play a key role in the implementation and utilization of a new performance and financial reporting system.
  • Assist the CFO and Directors of Accounting & Investment Operations with daily operational tasks as needed.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain general ledgers for individuals, trusts, and partnerships, ensuring timely and accurate data management.
  • Coordinate the preparation of fund accounts, financial statements, and audit reporting.
  • Handle complex investment transactions related to fund activities, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in the creation of carried interest and waterfall distribution models for various entities.
  • Collaborate with technology providers to resolve technical issues and evaluate potential enhancements to reporting systems.
  • Continuously seek to streamline and automate the investment reporting process while establishing robust internal control procedures.
  • Manage the onboarding of new public, private, and fund investments, ensuring accurate inclusion in internal systems.
  • Gather client information and assist in completing subscription documents.
  • Generate financial reports and present insights and recommendations to the CFO and Directors of Accounting & Investment Operations.
CANDIDATE PROFILE

The ideal candidate will be a discreet, self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with substantial experience in family office or asset management operations. The following qualifications are essential:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3-5 years of relevant accounting experience; hedge fund experience is preferred.
  • CPA designation preferred; a Master's in Accounting or Tax is advantageous.
  • Strong accounting background with a comprehensive understanding of investment partnership accounting.
  • Solid technical accounting and financial reporting skills, capable of aggregating and translating financial information effectively.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and portfolio management accounting systems is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with exceptional interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining an organized approach to responsibilities.
  • Strong ethical standards and alignment with the values of the family office.
  • A service-oriented mindset with a willingness to engage in hands-on tasks as required.
