Position Overview

The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role in the preparation of financial records, overseeing budgeting processes, managing cash flow, and maintaining investor documentation and reporting. This position is integral to ensuring the precise and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis of financial data, with a specific focus on the firm's real estate investments and partnerships.

Work Environment

Cedar Pine operates under a hybrid work model, requiring team members to be on-site three days a week.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Prepare financial statements in compliance with GAAP, along with internal reports and ad-hoc financial analyses as needed.
  2. Manage investor records, allocation schedules, and reporting obligations.
  3. Oversee controls related to wire transfers and other cash transactions.
  4. Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, expense reporting, fund bookkeeping, and investor communications.
  5. Handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality and timeliness.
  6. Collaborate with internal teams, including lending and property management, to collect and report pertinent financial data to support decision-making.
  7. Assist in reporting for family office activities and the management of special purpose entities.
  8. Manage cash flow and budgeting, analyzing all assets, income, expected expenses, and liabilities for entities controlled by the family office.
  9. Provide insights on the financial health and liquidity of specific entities.

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting; a Master's degree and/or CPA designation is preferred.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in real estate accounting or a related field, with a preference for commercial real estate experience.
  • General knowledge of commercial real estate matters, including leases, lease accounting, and real estate lending principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage across the organization.
  • Ability to work independently with excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with partnership accounting and related tax documentation.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
