Job Summary:

As a Diagnostic Ultrasound Specialist at Cook County Health and Hospitals, you will be responsible for performing general and arterial ultrasound examinations on patients. Your duties will include operating ultrasound equipment, performing various types of ultrasound examinations, and communicating with medical staff and nursing personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

Obtain and record accurate patient histories
Perform ultrasound procedures using mobile and stationary equipment to produce high-quality images
Analyze technical information and use independent judgment to extend the scope of procedures as needed
Provide oral or written summaries of technical findings to radiologists for medical diagnosis
Collaborate with radiologists and other healthcare team members
Prepare patients for ultrasound examinations and assist with patient transfers
Clean and disinfect equipment according to infection control policies
Complete procedures in Radnet and input data within 24 hours when the system is down
Transmit images via PACS system

Requirements:

Completion of an approved training program in diagnostic ultrasound
One year of full-time work experience with varied imaging in diagnostic ultrasound
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ability to obtain certification within one year of starting employment
Knowledge of patient care, computer skills, and ability to perform required tasks in Radnet and other systems
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Ability to use various ultrasound equipment and position patients correctly

Working Conditions:

This position is functioning within a healthcare environment, and the incumbent is responsible for adherence to all hospital and department-specific safety requirements.
