Job Title: Procurement Specialist

Job Summary:

The City of Fort Lauderdale, FL is seeking a highly skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team. As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring compliance with public procurement laws and regulations, and providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consult with department personnel to identify procurement needs and provide technical assistance on purchasing methods.
  • Prepare invitations to bid and requests for proposals, finalize specifications, and coordinate legal and insurance requirements.
  • Organize and facilitate pre-bid meetings, prepare bid tabulations, and review and analyze bids and proposals received.
  • Administer evaluation meetings, negotiate and prepare contracts, and manage contract renewals.
  • Process purchase requisitions, maintain purchase orders, and respond to questions regarding requisitions in the procurement processing system.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, such as Public Administration, Business Administration, or Supply Chain Management.
  • One to three years of experience in purchasing, with additional qualifying experience substituting on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
  • Certification as a Certified Public Professional Buyer (CPPB) or Purchasing Professional Certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of public procurement laws, ordinances, practices, and techniques is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two to three years of experience in a governmental entity.
  • Knowledge of public procurement software applications and proficiency in using them to manage procurement processes.
