Position Purpose:
This role is designed to facilitate the growth and development of aspiring Water Treatment Plant Operators and Maintenance Technicians.

Key Responsibilities:
As an apprentice, you will be trained in various tasks associated with the roles of Water Treatment Plant Operator and Maintenance Technician. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting routine water quality tests and documenting results.
  • Ensuring that the quality of treated water complies with federal and local regulations as well as company standards.
  • Monitoring operational equipment and systems at treatment facilities or within the distribution network using SCADA technology.
  • Preparing and submitting regular state and regulatory reports for review.
  • Calculating and adjusting chemical feed rates based on laboratory tests or supervisory instructions.
  • Calibrating instruments, managing chemical deliveries, and performing general site maintenance.
  • Working shifts as assigned, including nights and weekends, with appropriate notice.
  • Progressing to fill future vacancies as an operator or relief operator, contingent upon meeting minimum qualifications.

Qualifications:
Education:
A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Skills and Knowledge:
Applicants should possess:

  • Strong organizational skills relevant to project management and record-keeping.
  • Understanding of OSHA regulations and foundational knowledge of water treatment processes, water chemistry, and relevant federal, state, and local drinking water regulations.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.

Certifications:
Applicants must have a valid driver's license. While an operator's license or water certification is not mandatory for application, it is preferred. Candidates may be required to take and pass a PA Operator's A exam in the future, unless already obtained.
