Position Summary:

This role is pivotal in overseeing financial management and accounting related to capital expenditures. The incumbent will review, monitor, and ensure adherence to procedures concerning the cost and asset components of projects within the capital investment program, from inception to completion. This position will support all project-related accounting activities and analyze financial data, acting as a liaison between Engineering and Utility-wide accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist regional Project Managers and the Director of Engineering with capital expenditure activities, ensuring compliance with financial governance and accounting policies. Key tasks include:
    • Preparing and updating project metadata, timelines, and budget plans in the financial management system.
    • Administering and analyzing project cost and asset data, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in asset management.
    • Reconciling inventory using Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
    • Monitoring and analyzing project expenditures monthly, addressing discrepancies with the Accounting team.
    • Identifying projects needing authorization overruns and evaluating root causes.
    • Providing monthly financial analysis reports to Engineering staff.
    • Preparing expenditure reports for regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with Corporate stakeholders to identify and implement cost and process improvements related to accounting practices. Responsibilities include:
    • Presenting monthly financial analyses to the accounting team to inform strategic decisions.
    • Identifying areas for process enhancements within financial systems to drive value.
    • Contributing to the development of procedures supporting capital expenditure activities aligned with Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) initiatives.
    • Facilitating document reviews and modifications to implement improvements.
    • Acting as a regional expert for accounting and ERP systems, including user training and system integration support.
Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or Accounting is required, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in financial, cost accounting, project control, or cost engineering. Familiarity with Oracle-based financial software is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:
Candidates should possess strong analytical, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suites. Attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders are essential.

Certifications:
Eligibility for Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification is preferred.
