Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Technician to join our team at Bon Secours Mercy Health. As a Medical Laboratory Technician, you will play a critical role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients by performing laboratory tests and analyzing results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform Laboratory Tests: Conduct routine, moderate, and highly complex laboratory diagnostic tests to analyze patient samples and provide accurate results.
  • Confirm Test Results: Verify test results and provide data to physicians to determine the presence, extent, cause, and treatment of disease.
  • Quality Control: Follow quality control programs to ensure the accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Instrument Maintenance: Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
  • Training and Development: Assist with training of new employees and students in the use of lab equipment and testing procedures.
  • Computer Function: Perform computer functions on both Lab Information Systems (LIS) and Hospital Information Systems (HIS).
  • Continuing Education: Participate in continuing education in respective areas of expertise.
  • Inventory Control: Assist with inventory control and management.
Requirements
  • Certification: Medical Laboratory Technician Certification or eligibility by a nationally recognized certification agency (preferably ASCP).
  • Education: Associates degree in Medical Lab Technology or completed at least 60 semester hours of academic credit from a college or university accredited by a recognized regional or national accreditation agency and have successfully completed a medical lab technician program by a nationally accredited agency.
  • Work Experience: 2 years of technical experience in a clinical laboratory setting (preferred).
